Here’s what he said “I must say that the highlight of the trip was the contemporary-life exhibit on the top floor of the National Museum of Scotland. I have a better understanding of Scotland and “Scottishness” as a result. It wasn’t just the artifacts and the didacticism, either: a video wall called, I think, “Voices of Scotland” presented direct-to-camera snippets of over a hundred Scots talking about their nation, their language, the meaning of Scottishness, and their relationship to the world.  I sat through the whole thing, which was probably the single most illuminating five minutes of my entire time in Scotland.” Here’s a clip from the film…
